Abstract
Over the past five decades, extensive research has generated a multitude of theories, approaches, models, and principles in the realm of Second Language Acquisition (SLA). Within this field, various avenues of investigation have emerged, including the acculturation model, the monitormodel, accommodation theory, the universal hypothesis, discourse theory, neurofunctionaltheory and the variable competence model. Among these, Schumann's acculturation model andits subsequent revisions stand out, yet they have not provided a framework for systematicallyassessing the accuracy of the propositions derived from the model. This paper seeks to undertakea comprehensive review, assessment, and critique of the acculturation model's validity, with thegoal of examining the accuracy of the statements derived from it.
